Music Technology courses were first established at McAuley in 2003 with the designation as a Specialist Performing Arts College. The subject is now offered in Key Stage 4 and 5 and also forms part of the Year 9 Music course as well as featuring in a variety of projects in Years 7 & 8.
Technology features in the composition, production and distribution of music from all styles and genres. Through our courses, we give students the opportunity to develop industry standard skills in a wide variety of disciplines including sound recording, sequencing, live sound, DJing, multimedia and many more. Students can progress through the music technology courses or choose to join them in KS4 or 5; BTEC Nationals provide excellent progression on to a wide range of related university courses and many of our students continue their study of the subject at this level.
